Twitter Pod
I have set the pod up on our Learning Management System. Just waiting for the first topic to be added. We talked today about how to write a headline and the features that will draw an audience.
- Overview of the article
- Short in length
- Attention Grabbing
- Tone of the Article (shock, serious, humorous)
- Influence readers
We then talked about Alliteration (Four Fight Fires) and Puns (Blaze Fires Outrage) in headings.
It will be interesting to see what they come up with. The criteria for their discussion had to be based around the school community. Feel free to offer comments on things as we proceed on our journey.
Assessment - Year 7 Journalism
The assessment for this group of students has been challenging. Allowing them to use digital media, and remain safe was the problem. After much thought I decided to get them to do the following:
1. Complete an application form to get an article published in the Gold Coast Bulletin
2. Write and submit an article (may or may not be published)
3. Using our Learning Management System, set up a pod named Twitter. Students are to twit four things about the school environment over a two week period (Breaking news).
4. Students will also complete a short presentation about both traditional and new media. Pro's and Con's
Will keep you posted on their progress :)

Extension Term 4 - News Journalism Across the Media
News Journalism Across the Media
In this unit students will explore news journalism across the media.
Students complete a final project where they construct, present and analyze
information about news journalism from a variety of mediums: newspapers, radio
and television. Students will also participate in an assessment that measures
their understanding of the key concepts that have been emphasized during the
course of this unit.
Will keep you posted how this goes. Should be an interesting journey :)
